Bios Agrosystems SA
BIOS AGROSYSTEMS SA was founded in 1989 with the main aim of producing and trading varieties of plant species derived either from genetic material of its own research or from cooperating international and domestic operators. It is a company of the Efthimiadis Group of Companies “Redestos”. Since 2009, the research and development of new varieties marketed has been replaced by the evaluation and maintenance of varieties for third parties through a specially designed extensive experimental program, alongside the seed-producing and seed-processing activities. This change in policy has enabled it to develop strategic partnerships with both State Organizations and Institutions and large multinationals in the industry. From 2016 it is again engaged in commercial activities, exclusively in the field of vegetable seeds and mechanical equipment for the processing of agricultural products (mainly seeds). The main activities of BIOS are the following services, either individually or in combination:
- Evaluation and maintenance of varieties for third parties
- Seed production for third parties
- Treatment of seed for third parties (processing may include all or some of the stages of the total processing for the disposal of certified seed on the market)
- Marketing of vegetable seeds
- Supply of mechanical equipment for the processing of agricultural products to individual producers or to large enterprises in the sector
The final system of CoFLY will be adapted to needs of a specific scenario where the aim is to map arable land; providing optimal plant monitoring. The script will run on BIOS AGROSYSTEMS SA in Thessaly and in Central Macedonia, particularly in large plants (eg cotton, cereals, alfalfa) due to the high diversity and diseases appear. This scenario was selected because of its capacity and complexity environment and therefore the application of the system to similar extreme scenarios will require little adjustments.
